A unique take on a key moment in history will come to the Indian Trail Cultural Arts Center in October.
Historians David Helms and Robert Hinson will team up for a multi-day exhibit on the 1937 Hindenburg Disaster. The men will discuss the history of the German airships leading up to the May 6, 1937, demise of the Hindenburg – complete with historic photos and memorabilia and the retelling of interviews with crew members of the doomed airship.
“To me, airship history has been fascinating and in my case, rewarding,” Helms, who has studied the topic for more than 30 years, said. “I hope to share my knowledge and collection of airship memorabilia many times over in the years ahead.”
The exhibit and discussion will take place inside the Indian Trail Cultural Arts Center, 100 Navajo Trail, on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 5-6, from noon to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no cost to attend.
