[ARCHIVED] Town of Indian Trail Seeks Public Input on Proposed Community Center

Do you want a community recreation center? Take the survey!

As the Indian Trail community continues to grow and change, so does the need for additional recreational space and offerings. As such, the Town of Indian Trail has launched a feasibility study to explore the possibility of building a multi-generational and multipurpose community center.

Public input is key to the feasibility study process. Community feedback will shape the facility, its offerings, and its footprint. Indian Trail community members are encouraged to take a brief survey and share it with their friends and neighbors living in the Town. The survey takes less than five minutes to complete and can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ITRecCenter.

In addition to the short survey, residents will have further opportunities to provide input. Later this summer and fall, the Town will host virtual and in-person meetings with key stakeholders and the public to provide information, answer questions, and gather feedback. Parks and Recreation Department team members will also be available at Town events to talk about the proposed project. A second, more in-depth public input survey will be available from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30.

Residents will also have the opportunity to view potential renderings of the facility this fall. The feasibility study is scheduled to be completed in December, and the final plan will be presented to the Indian Trail Town Council at the Dec. 10 Town Council meeting.

“The Town of Indian Trail has fabulous parks and recreational amenities for people of all ages to enjoy,” said Mayor David Cohn. “However, we continually hear about the need for additional space for senior activities, pickleball, and more. I firmly believe that investing in our parks is investing in our people and community. A multi-generational, multipurpose community center would provide countless recreational and program opportunities for Indian Trail’s residents for decades to come, as well as spur economic development in our downtown. I am excited about the prospect of a community center in Indian Trail, and I encourage everyone to take the survey and be a part of this process.”
