Accessibility
The Town of Indian Trail is committed to making all aspects of our community accessible for everyone and meeting the accessibility needs of individuals with disabilities. As such, the Town has undertaken several initiatives to enhance accessibility throughout Indian Trail.
ADA Transition Plan
Approved in May 2025, the purpose of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan is to ensure the residents and visitors of the Town of Indian Trail have meaningful access to the Town’s public right-of-way, public facilities, and other programs, services, and activities. It is designed to accommodate people with disabilities and ensure fair, equal access to facilities without limiting their quality of life.
Self-Assessment Findings
As part of the plan development process, the Town of Indian Trail conducted a self-assessment of its facilities on public property and within public rights-of-way to identify any accessibility obstacles or barriers that need to be addressed.
Right-of-Way Self-Assessment
- Assessed more than 100 miles of sidewalks
- Identified nearly 14,000 barriers to accessibility
Facilities and Parks Self-Assessment
- Facilities (Town Hall and Public Works)
- 71 barriers to accessibility
- Parks (Crooked Creek, Crossing Paths, and Chestnut Square Park)
- 101 barriers to accessibility
Mitigation Plan
With changes to ADA standards and regular wear and tear on sidewalks and facilities, the Town will continually be addressing accessibility issues to ensure the community is accessible for all. `The ADA Transition Plan outlines a progress plan to help the Town address the most critical issues first.
FY 26 Budgeted Repairs and Upgrades
- $100,000+ in repairs at Crooked Creek Park's ADA playground
- $35,000+ in website accessibility upgrades
- $125,000+ on right-of-way repairs

Digital Accessibility

- Redesigning the website to ensure accessibility. Read the Website Accessibility Statement.
- Undergoing staff training to create accessible documents and remediate historical documents.
- Working with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure their content is accessible.
- Enhancing language equity tools on the Town’s website.
